Project

My media server has grown up and is now a full homelab, and on the hardware side, nothing has really changed. But on the software side, many additions have been made over the past 2 years.

I’ve implemented a real backup system in the OS, and I’ve improved the synchronization of files to be backed up. To do this, I use Syncthing, an open-source P2P file synchronization tool that keeps files up to date between a wide range of devices. I use it to synchronize files between my computers, my phone and the server.

In addition to the *Arr suite for automating the download of “Linux ISOs”, a system based on YoutubeDL-Material automatically retrieves YouTube videos and Twitch VODs of the content I watch on a daily basis. Once downloaded, these videos are added to the Plex server, allowing me to watch them ad-free and download them locally to my phone.

I recently completely gave up using google products, like gmail, drive, etc … For photos, I use Immich which is a great self-hosted alternative to Google Photos, optimized for fast backup and smart organization of photos and videos.

In addition, I have a few applications :

  • Wiki.js that lets me document all the elements of the server and the various computers in the house.
  • Slash a links collection manager
  • Tandoor a recipe manager that I don’t really use anymore.

I also use 2FAuth, an open-source, self-hosted app for managing 2FA codes, offering a secure alternative to traditional smartphone managers.

I’ve also been playing around with OMV’s KVM to create virtual machines. Unfortunately, I’m limited by the server’s hardware capacity, which prevents me from using the full potential of VMs.

I occasionally run game servers, such as Minecraft, COD 4 or Valheim.
