After dedicating years to learning percussion, particularly keyboard instruments such as the xylophone, I embarked on my first significant personal project: crafting my own musical instrument.
This creation, named the Rimbatube, drew inspiration from the captivating performances of artists like Snubby J and the renowned Blue Man Group.
Comprising approximately thirty PVC tubes of varying sizes, each tube is meticulously measured for specific lengths to produce precise notes. Tuning is achieved by adjusting the end cap of each tube. Unlike a traditional xylophone played with sticks, the Rimbatube utilizes custom foam paddles, offering a distinct playstyle. Its resulting sound is both percussive and characterized by a unique round and warm tone.
